An Evaluation of the Analytic Continuation by Duality Technique
نویسندگان
چکیده
In Ref. 1, Sundrum and Hsu estimated the value of the oblique correction parameter S for walking technicolor theories using a technique called Analytic Continuation by Duality (ACD). We apply the ACD technique to the perturbative vacuum polarization function and find that it fails to reproduce the well known result S = 1/6π. This brings into question the reliability of the ACD technique and the Sundrum and Hsu estimate of S. Transport Coefficients and Analytic Continuation in Dual 1 + 1 Dimensional Models at Finite Temperature
The conductivity of a finite temperature 1+1 dimensional fermion gas described by the massive Thirring model is shown to be related to the retarded propagator of the dual boson sine-Gordon model. Duality provides a natural resummation which resolves infra-red problems, and the boson propagator can be related to the fermion gas at non-zero temperature and chemical potential or density. In additi...
متن کاملACD Estimation of the S-parameter Revisited
The analytic continuation by duality (ACD) technique has been used to estimate the electroweak S parameter in technicolor models. In this letter, we investigate the reliability of this method by applying it to some toy models with known spectra. We find that in most instances the technique cannot be trusted to give a reliable result. UCTP–3/97 VPI–IPPAP–97–3 hep–ph/9702440 February 1997
متن کاملTachyons in de Sitter Space and Analytical Continuation from dS/CFT to AdS/CFT
We discuss analytic continuation from d dimensional Lorentzian de Sitter (dSd) to d-dimensional Lorentzian anti-de Sitter (AdSd) spacetime. We show that AdSd, with opposite signature of the metric, can be obtained as analytic continuation of a portion of dSd. This implies that the dynamics of (positive square-mass) scalar particles in AdSd can be obtained from the dynamics of tachyons in dSd. W...
متن کاملHodge Duality and the Evans Function
Two generalisations of the Evans function, for the analysis of the linearisation about solitary waves, are shown to be equivalent. The generalisation introduced by Alexander, Gardner and Jones (1990) is based on exterior algebra and the generalisation introduced by Swinton (1992) is based on a matrix formulation and adjoint systems. In regions of the complex plane where both formulations are de...
متن کاملLévy flights, dynamical duality and fractional quantum mechanics
We discuss dual time evolution scenarios which, albeit running according to the same real time clock, in each considered case may be mapped among each other by means of a suitable analytic continuation in time procedure. This dynamical duality is a generic feature of diffusion-type processes. Technically that involves a familiar transformation from a non-Hermitian Fokker-Planck operator to the ...
